Coonamble Shire Council

Every development application and planning proposal lodged with Coonamble Shire Council, tracked daily from the NSW Planning Portal — and what share of it actually gets built.

29 homes have been approved here

Counted from 29 of 84 determined applications — the ones stating a number of new homes, which for many of them is zero. The other 55 leave the field blank, and blank is not a zero.

1 home is still waiting on a decision. This is every application lodged since 1 July 2024 and where it stands today — the homes figure beside it covers applications determined in the same period, which is a different set.

NSW’s housing target

Coonamble Shire Council has no council-level target

Outside the four target areas. Covered by the single 55,000-home regional NSW allocation, which NSW does not break down by council.

Approved is not built

Across NSW, only 50% of approved homes reach construction within two years.

An approval is not a house. Lodgd matches every application to the construction certificates that follow it, site by site, across all 128 councils — so the pipeline can be read as what is likely to exist rather than what was lodged.

Elsewhere in NSW

Every council, the same way

How we count. These figures count homes written on development applications and complying development certificates lodged with Coonamble Shire Council and published on the NSW Planning Portal. NSW’s Housing Supply Dashboard counts something different. Across NSW the two land within 6% of each other; council by council they differ by more than 20% about half the time, and in both directions — for some councils NSW’s figure is far higher, for others far lower. Ours is checked application by application against the Planning Portal itself, and matches it exactly in every council tested. Lodgd publishes what is in the applications, and says so rather than adjusting to match.
